Get Connected

Hi, Im Jenna,

I'm a therapist

and fellow human.

I had a hard time finding a therapist that thought like me when I was a younger.

As a member of the LGBT+ community, it is important to me that my clients know I hear the ways that the world is not built for them. Our work in therapy is to find ways to get your needs met in an often unaccommodating or misunderstanding world.

I recognize the power of your experiences and how relationships (healthy & unhealthy) can define your perspective on yourself and others. Building a trusting rapport with you as your therapist is my top priority. Together we can make sense of what happened, your reactions, and how to reclaim a sense of self, safety, and belonging in the world by your own definition.

I am a pre-licensed clinician based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under supervision of multiple licensed clinicians.

Jenna Loz, MS, NCC

Director, Partly Cloudy Counseling

THE POWER OF EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based somatic therapy that helps you reprocess painful memories and experiences. EMDR regulates the nervous system and reshapes brain patterns so that what was previously triggering can be confronted without emotional spiraling. EMDR is helpful for trauma, anxiety, depression, and more. It can help balance your mood and make you feel much more at peace, as well as improve communication, boundaries, and relationships.

What kind of therapist are you?
I'm a trauma therapist. Overall, I am focused on "what happened to you" not "what is wrong with you" to help you explore your life.

Modalities:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Internal Family Systems, Ego-State, "Parts Work"
Relational (learning to build & keep trust with your therapist is part of the process)

My practice is queer-celebrating, body inclusive, sex & kink positive, and overall systems oriented. I work with individuals of all gender identities and relationship orientations.
What is your specialty?
Trauma. Everyone experiences something in their lives that is outside their ability to cope. I am here to help make sense of it. It can happen to anyone, at any age. Trauma does not discriminate.

Besides trauma, I niche in working with folks who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, folks who question roles in society (gender roles/religion/intergenerational systems), body/mind relationship issues (dysmorphia/dysphoria), attachment and relationships, dissociation and more.
What kind of professional experience do you have?
I have over 10 years of experience in mental health related work. I have a Masters in Trauma and Community Counseling from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.

A few things I've done:

1. I designed & created the first sensory room for amusement parks in 2016. This was reproduced nationally.

2. During COVID-19, I worked on a nursing staff supporting folks who had made recent attempts of suicide or who were high risk on an acute psychiatric unit for adolescents & adults. I specialized in advocating for transgender and LGBTQIA+ crisis support in this role in the medical setting. By the end of my time working at the hospital, I was promoted into the role of "psychiatric evaluator" where I performed assessments for level-of-care in the emergency room setting alongside medical doctors.

3. I taught an "Arts + Health" research course through Thomas Jefferson University where arts and medical students worked together to consider redesigns of healing spaces like waiting rooms in hospitals and play spaces throughout Philadelphia.

4. Starting in 2022, I helped pilot the 988 mental health crisis number in Philadelphia on a Mobile Crisis team. This service prevented police from being the initial point of contact for folks in psychiatric crisis to reduce risk of police brutality for BIPOC folk.

5. I am EMDR-trained and currently working towards certification (advanced training eventually to teach other counselors the process)

What is your billing policy?
My standard hourly rate is $165/50-minute session. Because I completely understand the limitations of accessing mental health care, I have limited sliding scale spots for reduced fees. Contact me directly for availability. I have a limited amount of in-person spots available in Kennett Square in addition to virtual availability throughout the week.

I do not accept insurance.  I accept debit cards, HSA, and credit cards. I bill weekly.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for 48 -hours advanced notice for any reschedule or cancellation. Your slot is reserved for you, you are paying for my time and if you do not show up - that time was still reserved for you; therefore I do charge full session rate as my cancellation fee.
